Memory Drawers

Memory Drawers are what we call he areas in your mind that store personal experiences, personal stories, and personal ideas. Much like a real drawer, the writer keeps these filed away for later use. In your Writer's Notebook, it is often helpful to list out these. Memory drawers can be one-word lists that spark a memory for you. They may also be a general topic or a phrase. The key is that these "drawers" hold special meaning for you and serve as a way to open up the drawers of your memory so when you begin to write you have something to share on paper.
